When you drag the mechanism to different locations, the snapshot tool will be available.

Use the "take snapshot" tool to create the snapshot at each of the desired locations.
From there, the snapshots can be used in either assembly mode, or drawing mode.

 

After all of the desired snapshots are created, select them in the drag window, then select the 'make snapshot available in drawing' icon…

Next, create a drawing, and place the desired view(s).
To access the snapshots, select the view, then RMB to access its properties.

Select the View States option.

Note the dropdown for the explode view. The snapshot will be available there…
